Reusable Crochet Flower Face Scrubbies

We made some changes in the past year toward zero-waste life, trying to minimize the amount of waste we produce. One of the things that I saw a lot around the web was reusable face scrubbies. I’ve been wanting to make these scrubbies for a while, but I don’t wear make-up so I don’t use the disposable ones.
When one of my friends who uses the disposable scrubbies had a birthday coming up, I decided to make her some these crochet flower face scrubbies as a birthday gift.
I didn’t find any pattern that I really liked, so I came up with one of my own.

Notes

– The scrubbies can be easily washed by hand, or in a gentle wash program in a washing machine.
– The gauge doesn’t matter, use yarn and a suitable hook.

Materials

Crochet hook 4mm / E
100% cotton yarn – sport weight, you can use Schachenmayr Catania Color

Abbreviations

ch – chain
ss – slip stitch
st – stitch
hdc – half double crochet
puff-4 – yarn over, insert hook into st and pull yarn back over (leave loops on the hook); repeat from * 3 more times. Now you have 9 loops on the hook, pull yarn through all 9 loops.
puff-5 – yarn over, insert hook into st and pull yarn back over (leave loops on the hook); repeat from * 4 more times. Now you have 11 loops on the hook, pull yarn through all 11 loops.

Crochet Flower Face Scrubbies Pattern

Make a magic ring
Row 1: ch2, * [puff-5, ch1] into the ring; repeat from * 7 more times. Ss into 1st puff-5. Pull the ring tight.
Row 2: ch2, * [puff-5, ch1, puff-5] in puff-5, ch1, skip ch-1; repeat from * 7 more times. Ss into 1st puff-5.

Row 3: ch2, skip 1st puff-5, * puff-4 in ch-1, ch1, skip st, [puff-4, ch1, puff-4] in ch-1, ch1, skip st; repeat from * 7 more times. Ss into 1st puff-5.
Row 4: * skip st, 5hdc in next st, skip st, ss in next st ; repeat from * 11 more times. Bind off.
