I really love flowers and flower-inspired designs, so I wanted to incorporate a beautiful flower design into a crochet pattern.
When I started designing this crochet square flower motif, I wanted to create something decorative but that is also useful. My first thoughts were to make it as a coaster, but after I finished this square flower motif, I found so many other ways to use it (such as coasters and blanket).
For example, I also made a cup cozy by sewing three squares together and adding buttons.

I decided to submit this design to I Like Crochet magazine. If you like to design and write patterns, publishing your designs in crochet magazines is a fun way to earn some extra money.
When I submitted this design I suggested various uses for it, and the editors eventually opted for a blanket. I wanted to optimize the original pattern, which is described in this post, for a blanket. So I made the squares bigger and less dense, and I think the end result turned out beautiful!

You can purchase the Flower Granny Square Throw Blanket pattern for a small fee on RAVELRY  or ETSY.

Getting back to the matter we all gathered here for.
The basic flower motif square is worked in the round, I would say it’s an easy-intermediate level because it does require a little experience.
