I’m excited to share the third annual blanket crochet along that I’m co-hosting with my friend Shannon from The Loophole Fox!
The Tranquility Blanket was designed by 10 different crochet designers to create a unique crochet blanket pattern made of 12 sections.
The blanket comes in 2 sizes – lapghan and throw and is made by working different stripes on top of each other (no joining!).
Each of the strips of the blanket has a unique texture, so you won’t get bored making this blanket.

How Will The Tranquility Blanket Crochet Along Work?
This is a free crochet along (CAL), similar to the previous Harmony and Serenity blanket patterns, all the different parts will be available on the designers’ blogs (this year there will be no free PDF downloads). Even after the event ends, you will still be able to find all the links to the Tranquility blanket free crochet pattern right here.
The event will be held between October 14th-November 25th. Each week 2 sections of the blanket will be released twice a week on Monday and Thursday.
Between each section, you will work a 2-row transition section (the instructions will show before the links to the different sections).
Parts 1-6 of the blanket will be hosted on Shannon’s (The Loophole Fox) website, so you will be directed to her blog post to find the pattern’s link.
Parts 7-12 and the border will be hosted here on my blog post.
The free crochet along will start on Oct. 14th, but you can purchase the discounted full blanket PDF pattern from Oct. 8th.

The Tranquility Blanket eBook
We know not everyone likes to jump from one website to another or prefers to have their patterns without the ads.
We have put together a cohesive eBook for the Tranquility Blanket which gathers all the 12 different parts of the blanket, including the transition rows and full border instructions.
Some of the patterns are explained more thoroughly in the PDF version with a detailed photo and video tutorial for the stitches.
There’s also a resource library, where you can find all the relevant stitch tutorials (photo or video) for each part of the blanket.

Construction of the Tranquility Crochet Blanket Pattern
This blanket pattern was designed as one piece, which means that each part of the blanket is crocheted right on top of the previous part.
Between each part, there are two transition rows, which break up the parts and emphasize the different texture of the next part. After the last part, we will place a border and these transition rows will not be needed.
The pattern offers 2 sizes for the blanket.
Decide which size of blanket youโd prefer to make before starting this pattern.
For the Lapghan, you will:
- Begin Part 1 with the indicated starting chain requirement for Lapghan size (156 sts).
- Choose 10 of the 12 parts to include in your blanket.
- Crochet the 10 chosen parts in order with Transition Rows between each part as instructed.
- Once all 10 parts are complete, continue to the border instructions.
For the Throw, you will:
- Begin part 1 with the indicated starting chain requirement for Throw size (192 sts).
- Crochet all 12 parts in order with Transition Rows between each part as instructed.
- Once all 12 parts are complete, continue to the border instructions.
Skill Level, Blanket Sizes, and Materials
Skill Level – The skill level for this crochet blanket ranges from Confident Advanced Beginner to Intermediate.
Terminology – All designs included in this pattern US Crochet Terminology.
Finished size – The pattern offers 2 sizes:
Lapghan: 40×50 in (102×122 cm)
Throw: 50×60 in (127×152 cm)
Materials
โ 5.0 mm / H crochet hook (I like this hook).
โ Worsted (#4) weight yarn (see detailed amount of yarn below)
For our blanket, we used Sirdar Country Classic Worsted. The Sirdar Country Classic consists of 50% acrylic and 50% Merino wool, making it nice and soft, with a great stitch definition.
We also chose to use 4 different colors (3 for the different parts and 1 for the transition rows and border), I will lay out both the amount needed for each color if you use 4 different colors, and both amounts used for each different part (scroll down for each part), if you want to plan your colors differently.
You can use any Worsted (#4) yarn you have on hand, good yarn substitutions would be:
Knit Picks – Comfy Worsted
Knit Picks – Mighty Stitch
Lion Brand – Basic Stitch

Lapghan: 1,567 gr / 3,412 yds / 3,130 m
Throw: 1,952 gr/ 4,256 yds / 3,904 m

- Color C (Clotted Cream): 380 gr / 820 yds / 752 m โ 4 skeins
- Color D (White): Total Usage: 245 g / 534 yds / 490 m – 3 skeins
- Amount of Color D used in Transition Rows: 109 gr / 238 yds / 218 m โ 1.5 skeins
- Amount of Color D used in Border: 136 gr / 296 yds / 272 m โ 1.5 skeins
Throw:
- Color A (Golden): 570 gr / 1,243 yds / 1,140 m โ 6 skeins
- Color B (Oyster): 610 gr / 1,330 yds / 1,220 m โ 7 skeins

- Color C (Clotted Cream): 470 gr / 1,025 yds / 940 m โ 5 skeins
- Color D (White): Total Usage: 300 g / 659 yds / 604 m – 3 skeins
- Amount of Color D used in Transition Rows: 130 gr / 288 yds / 264 m โ 1.25 skeins

Color Planning For Your Tranquility Crochet Blanket Pattern
The beautiful thing about this blanket pattern is, that no matter what color combination you choose, or how many colors, you will end up with a contemporary crochet blanket!
So if you want to use a different number of colors, you can calculate how much yarn you need for each part according to this list below, keep in mind that this is approximate yardage.
