Bean Duo – Crochet Bean Stitch Pattern
Last Updated on October 12, 2026
The Bean Duo pattern is a crochet Bean stitch pattern that uses both the Bean and the Mini Bean stitches, creating a fun texture.
This pattern is also the third section of the Renewed Rhythms Blanket. If you’re new to the crochet stitch, this is a great way to learn how to crochet the Bean Stitch.
You can use this pattern to create a Crochet Bean stitch blanket of your own, or follow the instructions for the Renewed Rhythms blanket.

How to change the width of this pattern – this crochet Bean stitch pattern can be easily changed to any width you want to make a bigger blanket (or anything you’d like).
Just follow this stitch multiple: chain a multiple of 2, then add 1 more chain, and another 1 chain for the turning chain. For example, 14=12+1+1.Â

Crochet Bean Stitch vs. Crochet Mini Bean Stitch (Elizabeth Stitch)
What is a Bean stitch? It’s a type of Bobble stitch – it’s basically a Puff stitch without the first yarn over. Omitting the first yarn over creates a denser stitch, which is more oval than the Puff stitch (hence the name “Bean”).
The Mini Bean (which is also called the Elizabeth Stitch) and Bean differ by simply working one less yarn over and pulling up a loop, which creates a smaller bean stitch. If you are new to these stitches, you should check out this Bean Stitch crochet tutorial and Mini Bean crochet tutorial.

The Renewed Rhythms Blanket Crochet Along
This pattern is part of the Renewed Rhythms Blanket Crochet-Along. This is the first section of a 7-part blanket crochet pattern.
The Renewed Rhythms crochet blanket is a co-design blanket by Shannon from The Loophole Fox and Agat from Made by Gootie, that can be made either as a baby blanket, lapghan, or a throw.
This is a free crochet along blanket that will be hosted from October 5th-29th, 2026. The pattern will be free to view on the designers’ blogs.

Notes
- Stitch Multiple: multiple of 2 + 1 (+ 1 turning chain, if starting on chains).
- Ch 1 / ch 2 at the beginning of the row doesn’t count as a stitch.
- Please make sure to check your gauge before starting! Because of the Bean stitch, this Section can turn out a bit wider. If needed, use a smaller hook to obtain the correct gauge.
- Don’t worry if the first 2 rows feel like they’re going to be too wide. They get pulled in by Row 3.
