How Do You Crochet the Moss Stitch?
The Moss stitch is a fantastic stitch for beginners. it uses only single crochet and chains, and there’s not much where to go wrong with it.
In the pattern round up below, you will also find beginner-friendly Moss stitch crochet patterns that will be great to help you master this stitch.
Crocheting the Moss stitch is super easy, the stitch is a combination of only single crochet and chains worked alternately. The beautiful texture is created when the single crochet is worked into the chain space and the chains are worked above the single crochets.
The cool thing about this stitch is that it’s also easy to work the Moss stitch from corner to corner (C2C) and in a square from the middle out like I did in the Samma’s Blanket.

Is Moss stitch the same as linen stitch?
Yes! Apparently, the Moss stitch is known by three different names.
I know this stitch as the Moss stitch, but it is also known as the Granite stitch and the Linen stitch!
So next time you came across these stitch names (maybe in one of the moss stitch crochet patterns below), you’ll know they are all referring to the same stitch.
