How to Crochet the Catherine’s Wheel Crochet Stitch?

The Catherine’s Wheel crochet stitch is actually pretty easy. The stitch is made using only chains, single crochet, and double crochet.

The crochet wheel-like texture is formed by working 7 double crochet stitches into the same stitch to create one half of the wheel, and then on the next row, you crochet 7 double crochet together to create the other half of the wheel.

Are Crochet Harlequin stitch and Cathrine Wheel The Same Stitch?

I know these two stitches look really similar, and both stitches do use a very similar technique of working half of the circle in every row.

But the Harlequin crochet stitch is less rounded compared to the Catherine’s Wheel stitch, since the middle stitch of the half circle is being skipped and not worked into, which makes the stitch more of a ‘diamonded-shaped’, than a ‘wheel-shaped’ like the Catherine’s.

Catherine’s Wheel Stitch Crochet Blanket

The Catherine’s Wheel Crochet stitch is just perfect to use when making a blanket!

It’s soft, the texture is really unique, and the best part? The Catherine stitch works up really quickly because it uses mainly double crochet stitches!

So to make a blanket using the Catherine Wheel stitch, make a chain with a multiple of 10 stitches, then add 6 stitches and 1 more stitch for the beginning chain.
