Crochet Moss Stitch Baby Blanket – Samma’s Blanket

Samma’s Blanket is a beautiful and easy crochet Moss Stitch baby blanket worked in the round. The blanket is using 2 colors to create an eye-catching effect.

This Moss stitch crochet blanket is made by crocheting the Moss stitch in a square, making it perfect for a beginner crocheter with some experience.

I designed this blanket as a gift to a friend for her new niece. They named the baby ‘Samma’, which means ‘Soar’. I love this beautiful meaning and decided to name the pattern the same 🙂

The pattern is based on the Moss Stitch, but works this stitch in the round to create the square from the middle out (which spares you the long starting chain and creates a lovely effect).
To give more interest and texture to the blanket, there are a few rounds of single crochet stitch that add more depth to the pattern.

If you want to make this blanket bigger, work the pattern up to round 80 (don’t work the last round), then go back to round 16 and repeat the pattern to the size you want.

Adding tassels

Using a mix of colors A and B yarns, cut 48 pieces (12 for each corner) measuring approx. 12.5 ‘’ (31 cm).

Fold the 12 pieces of strands of yarn in half, using your hook pull the center of the yarn through ch-1 sp from the back side of the blanket. Remove the hook and pull the ends of the yarn through the small loop, tighten and make another knot to secure the tassel.
