When I designed this crochet flower shawl pattern, I wanted to create an easy crochet shawl in a classic rectangle shape that still got that WOW factor.
I decided to go with a basic shawl body of double crochet rows, and then add a crochet lace part that follows the simplicity of the first part. I used my Lace Flower Pattern to create a simple crochet shawl with flowers, and I’m so happy with the result!
The beautiful thing about this pattern is that you can adjust the width and size as you want. Look for the stitch multiple in the pattern note and adjust the shawl as you’d like. Then you can work the double crochet body to the size you want, and the flower lace part to the size you want.

What Yarn Should You Use for Your Crochet Flower Shawl
For my floral crochet shawl, I used Knit Picks Shine Sport yarn, this yarn consists of 60% Pima Cotton, 40% Modal, which is perfect for the warm season. You can use any type of fiber you want, but this shawl will benefit the most from natural fibers, such as cotton or bamboo. These fibers have lovely stitch definition and will show the floral design beautifully after blocking.
The beautiful thing about this pattern is that you can adjust it to use different yarn weights, such as Fingering (#1) and DK (#3) weight yarns (although I wouldn’t use Worsted yarn or thicker than that).
To change the width of your shawl: chain a multiple of 10, then add 6 ch, and another 2 for turning ch’s.

How to crochet the Stacked Single Crochet (STsc):
This stitch is an alternative to extended half double crochet, its intention in this pattern is to replace the ch3, or ch2 + dc at the beginning of the pattern and get a straighter edge.
At the beginning of the row, do not chain, keep your yarn behind your hook and work 1 single crochet in the first stitch, then work another single crochet into the left leg of the single crochet you just worked.

How to crochet the Puff-2 stitch
(yo, insert hook into next st, yo and pull up a loop) x 2 times working into same st, yo and pull through 4 loops, yo again and pull through 2 remaining loops.

How to crochet the Puff-4 stitch
(yo, insert hook into next st, yo and pull up a loop) x 4 times working into same st, yo and pull through 8 loops, yo again and pull through 2 remaining loops.

Pattern Notes
- Stitch Multiple: (multiple of 10) + 6 + 2 (turning ch’s) = chain a multiple of 10, then add 6 ch, and another 2 for turning ch’s.
- STsc is an alternative to the 1st double crochet, its intention in this pattern is to get a straighter edge. If you prefer, you can replace it with ch3, or ch2 + dc at the beginning of each row.
- Ch 1 and ch 2 at the beginning of the row don’t count as a stitch.
- You can use different colors for the body and flower sections. See yarn quantity for each section in the materials above.

How many rows is it approximately? I am trying to use orange and white (Longhorn fan is the recipient!)
45 rows 🙂
I am having trouble at the beginning of row 35. In the first row where it states “Ch 1, 2 hdc in 1st Puff-2, 3 hdc in next ch-3 sp, 1 hdc in next Puff-4, 1 hdc in next ch-2 sp, 1 hdc in next sc” it appears that there patterns has dropped at least 1 sc in the first ch 2 sp, 1 hdc in the first puff4, 3 hdc in the last ch 3 so, and the 1 hdc in the last puff 4. I have pulled this row out 4 times. I am now going to attempt the row with what I believe are missing stitches. I will update. Also, I am having trouble pulling the yarn through puff stitches without snagging the threads. Any suggestions or advice on this?
