I love the simple yet beautiful texture of the corner to corner Mesh stitch. There is something so pretty when this stitch is worked in diagonal. This stitch is not too dense, but still sturdy enough for a basket.
This basket is so functional! You can use it in so many ways – as a plant hanger, to hold the essentials near the entrance of your home, for your toiletries in your bathroom, and even in your kitchen or your craft room!
To create this super easy crochet hanging basket, we first work a big square, then add a loop at the corner and fold the square to create the “pocket” for the basket.

The Yarn I Used for my Hanging Basket
To create a sturdy basket, I used 2 strands of Worsted (#4) weight yarn held together, but you can substitute for a Bulky (#5) yarn instead.
For my basket, I used Dishie yarn, which is 100% cotton and comes in many beautiful colors. For this kind of home decor project, it’s recommended to use 100% cotton, since it’s more sturdy and durable, and can be washed up easily.
