How Do You Crochet a Nesting Basket?

Crocheting a nesting basket is quite easy, especially if you go with a super simple pattern that only uses a single crochet stitch for example.

If you want to make a round crochet basket, you need to start with a perfectly round crochet circle.

Then after you reached the desired size for the bottom of the basket, you stop increasing and continue to work your rounds to build the basket’s body.

Which Yarn Is Best For Crochet Baskets?

When crocheting a storage basket, it’s recommended to use 100% cotton yarn. Cotton yarn is more sturdy, have beautiful stitch definition and you can easily wash it in the washing machine.

For this crochet nesting basket, I used Knit Picks – Dishie yarn which was very generously provided to me by WeCrochet.

Dishie yarn is one of my favorite cotton yarns to use for crochet home decor items. it’s soft, yet very sturdy and has great stitch definition, and as a bonus comes in many beautiful colors!

I used this yarn in the Paved Diamonds Rug, Suzette Hanging Basket, Double Hanging Basket, and Knit-Look Can Cozies.

About the Lobelia Crochet Nesting Basket Pattern

The Lobelia Nesting basket is a modern crochet basket.

The Basket’s body has a unique texture because of a combination of the spider stitch and the spike single crochet stitch.

The body pattern is worked alternating these two stitches, where each stitch is worked on the top of the same stitch to obtain the lines from the bottom to the top.
