I designed this square as a part of the Friendship Blanket CAL.
This awesome CAL is hosted by Helen from Sunflower Cottage Crochet and is a collaboration of 25 designers, where each designer designed a square for this blanket, the blanket is made of 40 squares.

How does the CAL work?
The CAL begins 15/05/2021 and will end 04/18/2021, when a new square will be released every week on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 9 am GMT. Some of the squares will be available for download as a PDF with a coupon code that will be provided and some will be available as a blog post, depends on the designer’s choice.
All squares are made with an Aran/Worsted (#4) weight yarn.
So you are welcome to join this fun CAL, I will also post each square on the day it’s featured on my Facebook Group., I’m looking forward to seeing you there!
Even though the CAL is over, most of the squares are still FREE on the designers’ blog.
The rambling roses square is a combination of the Primrose stitch (I also used this lovely stitch in these Primrose Coasters) and hdc stitches.
More fun ideas for this square are making it as a washcloth, a hot pad, table or bed runner (just increase the initial chains according to the multiple mentioned in the notes), etc…
For this square, I used Lion Brand – 24/7 Cotton, this yarn is 100% cotton and has a beautiful stitch definition.

– The pattern is a multiple of 6, you can change the width of the square as you’d like.

Friendship Blanket CAL- free January squares | Rambling roses square by made by gootie
I will save this pattern because it looks like a beautiful square to make it would make good tight blanket warm. Approximately how many do you think it would take but just have one square to make a nice blanket for a double bed say?
Hi Delores, I’m glad you like this square! For a double bed size blanket you will need approximately 5,500 grams of yarn (16,000m/17,500yd). If you want to make it out of one square, I would increase the beginning chain to 420 (remember to keep it a multiple of 6).
