The Iris Flower crochet coaster pattern is worked in the round using the Iris Stitch. I love the Iris stitch, it’s a double V stitch using double crochet stitches. It creates a stable fabric, but it is still a bit lacy and airy. I used this stitch to create a square in the round, and a rectangle in the round.

The Iris stitch worked in a circle, creates a lovely flower shape, with subtle petals. With only 4 rounds, it takes no more than 10 minutes to make 1 coaster, and I am a slow crocheter. So I’m sure most of you will make it in less time!

The Yarn I Used for My Crochet Coasters

Crochet coasters, and any home decor accessories that are used a lot, and especially used with high temperatures should be made with 100% cotton yarn.

I used Knit Picks Vividie yarn it’s a 100% mercerized cotton yarn. It’s sturdy and durable, comes in beautiful colors, and has a little shine to it.

Of course, you can use any cotton yarn you have, these coasters are perfect as a stash-busting pattern, and you can use up your leftover yarn.
