Waves of Grain Square- Unique Granny Square Pattern
This beautiful and unique Granny Square pattern is the square version of my Waves of Grain (wheat stitch).
I wanted to use the V-Puff stitch in a Granny square, and still create a stable square that lies flat perfectly. The combination of V stitch and V Puff stitches creates a lovely wheat stitch texture, and an eye-catching Puff stitch granny square.
The pattern features a nice repeat section that can be repeated to create a larger granny square blanket with a unique, wheat-like texture.

When I crochet blankets, or a big project, I would always prefer to find a way to start a project without working a long starting chain. Working a crochet blanket from the middle out spares the need to start with a long chain and also creates a beautiful texture, even when using basic crochet stitches.
The combination of the V-stitch and the V-Puff stitch in the Waves of Grain Granny Square pattern makes an eye-catching texture, and will make a gorgeous granny square blanket! You can make several squares and join them together, or work one big granny square blanket by repeating the pattern.

How to Change The Size Of This Blanket Square
Although this pattern is for a 14″ (36 cm) granny square, it can be easily adjusted to a smaller or a bigger size.
If you want to make this unique granny square pattern smaller, just work the rounds to your desired size. And if you want to work this square into a larger blanket, work the pattern up to round 14 and then repeat rounds 9-14 as much as you’d like.

Interesting pattern. I assume “ss” is slip stitch. I don’t see it in the abbreviations list. 😉
You’re right, thank you for catching that, Carol!
I added it to the abbreviations.
This pattern works up beautifully! I Love it. I turned my square into a dishcloth. I used a fingering weight cotton and a #3.5mm hook. I crocheted all 11 rows plus rows 6 & 7 and ended up with a 9″square. Thank you for all your beautiful patterns. I especially love your C2C patterns.
