Is a Crochet Hexagon Coaster a Beginner-Friendly Pattern?

Making a crochet hexagon coaster is quite easy. The Diamonds Coasters are crocheted using double crochet, chains and treble, so if you master these stitches you are good to go!
Using the filet crochet method (it’s not as scary as it sounds), with mainly double crochet and chains, you create the diamond shapes while crocheting in the round, and by only 7 rounds you can make this beautiful crochet coaster!
In the last round we add a cute picot at each corner, and you will find a photo-tutorial to help you make it.

What Yarn Should You Use for a Crochet Coaster?

The best yarn for home decor and kitchen used items is always cotton yarn. Because it’s more heat resistant and easy to wash (just toss it into the washing machine).
For these crochet coasters I used Fingering (#1) weight yarn, although Sport (#2) weight yarn would also be a good fit for the pattern with a suitable hook size, which will result in a slightly bigger coaster.
Great yarn options for this pattern will be:
Knit Picks – Comfy Fingering
Mary Maxim Crochet Cotton
Lion Brand Oh Baby Yarn
Paintbox Cotton 4-Ply
