The C2C Lemon Peel Stitch Dishcloth is a quick crochet project, that will teach you a new technique with a beautiful texture. This technique makes an easy crochet dishcloth pattern.
Although this corner to corner Lemon Peel stitch pattern is for a dishcloth, you can also use it to make a beautiful blanket.

How to Crochet the Lemon Peel (Griddle) Stitch
The Lemon Peel stitch, which is also known as the Griddle stitch, is a super beginner friendly stitch, only using the single crochet and double crochet stitches.
The crochet Lemon Peel is made by alternating the single and double crochet stitches, where the single crochet is worked into the double crochet, and the double crochet is worked into the single crochet.
This stitch alternation creates a solid and interesting texture that reminds a little of the rough lemon peel. The solid fabric is perfect as a crochet dishcloth and washcloth, and also soft enough for crocheting a blanket.
Corner to Corner Lemon Peel Stitch Blanket
I love using the corner to corner method to make blankets, you don’t need to start with a long chain or calculate how many chains you need for the desired width. You just start from one corner and work until you reach the size you want.
What I like about the C2C Lemon Peel, is that the corner to corner method creates smoother edges than when it is worked the regular way (back and forth). So it spares me to add a border.
Although this is a lemon peel stitch dishcloth pattern, you can use it to make a blanket, just follow the pattern and keep increasing to the size you want, then decrease as instructed.
Different C2C Stitches
Did you know that you can work different stitches from corner to corner? As I mentioned above, this is my favorite crochet technique for making a blanket (or anything squared). You get a perfect square (or rectangle), with smooth edges, without calculating and counting stitches!

Materials I used in this tutorial
โ Crochet hook 4.0 mm / G (I love the Etimo Hooks).
โ DK (#3) weight yarn โ I used Fibra Natura โ Cottonwood.
Amount of yarn needed (for the finished size as mentioned below): 25gr/53m/58yds.
โ 2 Stitch markers (optional)
Finished Size โ 6.5ร6.5โ (16.5ร16.5 cm)
You can make this pattern as big as you’d like (even a blanket!), just keep increasing.
Gauge (in pattern):
Working Rows 1-14 will result in a triangle with 4โโ (10 cm) sides.

Notes
- To make it easier to find the ch3 / ch2 spaces at the end of the row, place a stitch marker when you ch3/ch2 at the beginning of each row.
- The stitch count is shown only at the beginning of the increase section to help you get the hang of the pattern.
- The washcloth can be made both as a square and as a rectangle.
- You can use this pattern to make a blanket! Just keep increasing to the desired width.
- The pattern is reversible.

Row 1: [1 sc, 1 dc] in 4th chain from hook, turn. (1 sc, 1 dc, 1 ch-3 sp)
Row 2: Ch3-PM, 1 sc in 1st dc, 1 dc in next sc, [1 sc, 1 dc] in ch-3 sp, turn. (2 sc, 2 dc, 1 ch-3 sp)
Row 3: Ch3-PM, 1 sc in 1st dc, 1 dc in next sc.
1 sc in next dc, 1 dc in next sc, [1 sc, 1 dc] in ch-3 sp, turn.
(3 sc, 3 dc, 1 ch-3 sp)
Row 4: Ch3-PM, 1 sc in 1st dc, 1 dc in next sc.
* 1 sc in next dc, 1 dc in next sc; Repeat from * to ch-3 sp, [1 sc, 1 dc] in ch-3 sp, turn. (4 sc, 4 dc, 1 ch-3 sp)

Row 5: Ch2-PM, skip 1st dc & sc, 1 sc in next dc.
* 1 dc in next sc, 1 sc in next dc; Repeat from * to last sc before ch-3 sp, dc2tog in last sc & ch-3 sp, turn.
Row 6: Ch2-PM, skip 1st dc2tog & sc, 1 sc in next dc.
* 1 dc in next sc, 1 sc in next dc; Repeat from * to last sc before ch-2 sp, dc2tog in last sc & ch-2 sp, turn.
Continue working row 6 until you have a total of 4 sts + ch2 in your row (1 sc, 1dc, 1 sc, 1 dc2tog).
Row 7: Ch2-PM, skip 1st dc2tog & sc, 1 sc in next dc, dc2tog in last sc & ch-2, turn.
Row 8: ch1, skip 1st dc2tog & sc, 1 sc in ch-2 sp. Fasten off.
