I wanted to create an easy crochet shawl pattern that can be made in any yarn weight, so I decided to use the V-hdc stitch from corner to corner, which is a method that allows you to have the flexibility to start your project without a long starting chain.
The C2C V-hdc stitch creates a slightly airy fabric, which doesn’t have big holes, which is perfect both for light weight yarn and thick yarn.
Since we are working from one corner, we start increasing until we reach the desired width of the shawl. Then, we will decrease only on one side of the shawl until the long side reaches the length that we want, and then we will be decreasing on both sides to finish the rectangle.

Crochet Shawl Pattern for Any Yarn Weight
This crochet rectangle shawl pattern is designed to fit any type of yarn weight. The beautiful thing about it is that you don’t need to look for the right yarn for this pattern, but you can use any yarn you want!
This shawl can be made as a lightweight crochet shawl or a warm and cozy shawl. The purple shawl that is shown in the main image is made with Worsted (#4) weight Knit Picks – Swish yarn. Although it’s a Worsted weight yarn, it still came out pretty light and airy because of the V-stitch pattern.
The pink triangle in the PIN image above is made with Bulky (#5) weight yarn. The beautiful shawl shown in the two images below was crocheted with Fingering (#1) weight yarn by my talented tester Klarisse!
