Crochet Coasters FAQs
How Big Should Crochet Coasters Be?
The finished size of your crochet coaster is a personal preference (and depends on how big your mugs are!).
But as a rule of thumb, your coaster width or diameter should be between 3-5” (7.6-12.7 cm).
What Is the Best Yarn To Use for Crochet Coasters?
You can basically use any yarn you want, because the cup is not hot enough to melt your acrylic yarn.
But my personal preference for yarn when I’m making crochet coasters is always 100% cotton.
I like cotton yarn because it lays down beautifully after blocking, has a nice stitch definition and is very durable and can just be tossed into the washing machine if my drink is spilled on the coaster.
