I’m extremely excited to finally be able to share with you the Harmony Blanket Throw Crochet Along!ย
The Harmony Blanket is a modern crochet blanket pattern, that was designed by 12 different crochet designers. When finishing the blanket, you will have a unique heirloom crochet blanket.
In this CAL which I am co-hosting with the wonderful Shannon from The Loophole Fox, we will crochet together this textured crochet blanket pattern that is made out of 12 different stripes, each using different techniques and unique stitches.

How Will The Harmony Throw Blanket Crochet Along Work?
A Collaborative Crochet Along (CAL)
First things first, if you never heard of a crochet along (CAL) before, a CAL is an event where different crocheters around the world are working together on a pattern at the same time.
What’s unique about the Harmony Blanket Free Crochet Along, is that it’s a collaborative CAL. The main event will be co-hosted by Shannon and myself, but each pattern stripe was designed by a different designer, to create this beautiful modern crochet blanket pattern!
So How Exactly Does This CAL Work?
The Harmony Crochet Throw Blanket Pattern is a 50×60″ (127×152 cm) size blanket.
The blanket is made out of 12 different stripes that are worked on top of each other (no joining here!), and are separated by 2 transition rows. The unique combination of different stripe patterns creates an eye-catching modern crochet blanket pattern.
There’s no video tutorial for the whole blanket, but there are video & photo tutorials for more complicated stitches.
Please keep in mind that this blanket is an intermediate skill level.
The crochet along will take place over 6 weeks starting Oct. 17th 2022, where each week (on Monday & Thursday) a new part of the pattern will be released. You will find the link to the relevant designer website and code to download the PDF if needed on the main event post.
The pattern will always be FREE on the designer’s website, and the PDF pattern will be available for FREE on the same day for 24 hours (starting at 08:00 am PDT).

Materials Will You Need For this Blanket CAL Pattern
For our blanket, we used Sirdar Country Classic Worsted, which was generously provided to us by Helen from the Caterpillar yarn. The Sirdar Country Classic is consist of 50% acrylic and 50% Merino wool which makes it nice and soft, with a great stitch definition.

You can use any Worsted (#4) yarn you have on hand, good yarn substitutions would be:

We also chose to use 5 different colors (4 for the different parts and 1 for the transition rows and border), I will lay out both the amount needed for each color if you use 5 different colors, and both amount used for each different part (scroll down for each part), if you want to plan your colors differently.

- Color B – Clotted Cream (Parts 2, 6, 10): 367gr / 803yds / 734m – 4 skeins

- Color D – Port (Parts 4, 8, 12): 418gr / 915yds / 836m – 5 skeins

Color Planning For Your Harmony Throw – a Modern Crochet Blanket Pattern
The beautiful thing about this blanket pattern is, that no matter what color combination you choose, or how many colors, you will end up with a contemporary crochet blanket!
So if you want to use a different number of colors, you can calculate how much yarn you need for each part according to this list below, keep in mind that this is approximate yardage.

Skill Level – The skill level for this crochet blanket ranges from Confident Advanced Beginner to Intermediate.
Materials
โ 5.0 mm / H crochet hook (I like this hook).

Notes
- The blanket is crocheted over 192 When finishing each part, make sure you have the correct number of stitches.
- Each part is separated by 2 transition rows (please see the instructions below).
- Always finish the last stitch of the part you are working on with the transition row color.
- Make sure to finish the last stitch of the second transition row with the color youโve chosen for the next part.

- Make sure to skip the single crochet after your last V-sc stitch in each repetition.

Important notes for Part 2:
- Make sure to count your stitches between bobbles on the right side rows. The stitch just before a bobble โhidesโ a little bit and itโs very easy to drop stitches because of this.
- This part has a tendency to roll at the edges. This is nothing to worry about as the addition of the next section alleviates the roll.
- DO NOT FINISH REPEATS ALL THE WAY TO THE END OF THE ROW. Crocheters MUST follow the pattern and end the repeat when the stated number of stitches remains.
- The last repeat of the row is NOT COMPLETED fully before the next set of instructions.
- Not following the pattern EXACTLY when it states โuntil X stitches remainโ will throw off the work.

- If you are having trouble with where to place the cables in Part 3, Shannon has made a photo-tutorial specific to this part of the pattern.
- This section rolls a bit until the last two rows of the pattern are put on.
- Tip: Itโs easier to count the posts of the stitches 2 rows below between the FPtrโs than it is to count the tops of stitches and move downward.
- DO make sure that it looks like youโre skipping 4 stitches behind the 4 FPtrโs of each set.

For the Transition Rows, the total yarn usage was approximately 110 grams / 240 (220 meters).
For the Border, the total yarn usage was approximately 90 grams / 197 yards (180 meters).

Will the pattern include information on how to scale it to a different size? I generally only make baby blankets and knowing starting row is “multiple of X stitches + y” makes it easier for me to adjust. Just curious, thank you! Looking forward to this CAL…it is beautiful!

The whole blanket is worked over 192 stitches, although each designer used a different multiple of stitches in her design, so it’s kind of hard to scale the blanket to a different size.
My part is the first one and it does mention the stitch multiple, my only suggestion is to use that to make the size you want and then work the rest of the parts according, taking into consideration that the other part will end in the middle of the other repeat pattern.

Just really difficult to get the page containing the pattern … not the introduction of the CAL … BECAUSE the link in the CAL send you back in the same page as the introduction for part 1…
This blanket CAL is gorgeous so if you could solve this problem for all the ones like me who couldn’t pay the eBook because of the financial crisis… I’m finishing my stash … Normally I have 2 big cupboard full of yarn … there’s only 20 % full actually and most of the yarn staying inside is stash…
so hoping for better days to be able to buy some new yarn …

So I’m confused on part 6…how do I end up with 192 stitches in row 3 if I’m skipping more HDC’s than I’m “replacing” with Double triples? (Also, after I yarn over three times, insert around the post, yo again and pull it up, shouldn’t I have 4 loops, not 5? I just assumed that was a typo ๐คทโโ๏ธ)

Is there an easy way to make this throw bigger? Like a common stitch multiple among all the parts? Its easy enough to make it longer but I’m curious about wider…
Hi Tara,
There’s no easy way, because each designer used a different multiple stitches in her design, while the whole blanket is worked over 192 stitches.
But you can use the stitch multiple that is mentioned for the first part to make your blanket bigger, taking into consideration that the other parts might end in the middle of the repeat pattern.

I am having an issue with row 11 only getting to 191 stitches start with 4 then multiple of 22 8 times which is 180 plus another 6 and 5 at the end equaling 191 am I missing something?

I have tried to reach out through email and have not gotten a response I can tell if Iโm supposed to skip the first double crochet after chaining three and thatโs why Iโm coming up short but counting wise itโs off by a stitch
As for the pattern notes, the ch3 counts as a stitch.
So you will have the ch3 that counts as dc, so you are not working into the first dc. Then work 4 dc in the next 2 stitches.
So you need to add to your calculations the beginning ch3 as a double crochet, which complete it to 192 ๐
